Implement Chapter Plan: the built-in skill for drafting a confirmed plan progressively and reviewing the result.

Steps

  1. Open the assistant inside your novel and specify the chapters to plan. Ask it to plan first, without drafting prose. Chapter Plan organizes goals, obstacles, scenes, and beats.
  2. Review the goals, turning points, character motives, and information to withhold. Revise anything that does not fit, then confirm the plan.
  3. Ask the assistant to draft from the confirmed plan. Implement Chapter Plan proceeds in beat-sized passes and performs a craft-level self-review.
  4. Choose Manual or Automatic execution in the composer. In Manual mode, handle manuscript and asset changes through the existing approval workflow.
  5. Return to the editor to read and revise the draft. Then review story synchronization and asset changes separately from prose completion.

To organize your story, explore volume and chapter planning and keep chapter goals and turning points beside your manuscript.

For reusable setup and chapter-planning workflows, see AI skills and commands and how to invoke them in the assistant.

A worked example

Starting point: a courier arrives after the last ferry has left. Goal: deliver a sealed letter before dawn. Obstacle: the lighthouse keeper refuses entry without the brass key. Turn: the courier finds the recipient’s signature in an old visitor book. End state: delivery becomes an investigation. Withhold: who sent the letter.

A chapter plan guides a draft; it does not guarantee continuity. Check the viewpoint, chronology, character knowledge and final change yourself. Keep rejected ideas outside confirmed story facts.
