1. The service and your licence
NovelThread is operated by NovelThread Team, an independent team based in Singapore, and consists of a desktop application plus optional online services such as accounts, cross-device sync and AI access.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the NovelThread desktop app on your devices for your creative work. You may not resell or rent the software, or circumvent its technical protections.
2. Accounts
Local features do not require an account. When you use Google or Apple sign-in for online services, provide accurate information and keep your credentials safe; activity under your account is treated as yours.
3. Subscriptions, payment and refunds
Some features, such as higher AI usage and cross-device sync, are offered as subscriptions. Subscriptions renew automatically for the period you chose; you can cancel at any time in account settings and keep access until the end of the current period.
Once charged, fees are no voluntary or prorated refunds. This does not limit refunds required by applicable law, or the handling of duplicate charges, unauthorised transactions or payment-network requirements.
V1 accepts US-dollar payments through Stripe only and does not enable Stripe Tax or automated tax calculation. If applicable law requires registration, collection or filing, we will adjust market availability or the payment flow before selling there.
If prices change, we will notify you in advance; changes apply from your next billing period.
4. Your content and intellectual property
Everything you write in NovelThread — manuscript, outlines and story-bible entries — belongs entirely to you. We claim no rights over your work and your data is never used for AI training.
You grant us only the processing rights necessary to provide the features you use, such as sync and AI requests.
The NovelThread software itself — its interface, code and brand — remains the developer’s intellectual property.
5. AI-generated content
Text produced by AI features is a suggestion; nothing enters your manuscript without your confirmation, and what you accept is your decision.
To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranty as to the accuracy, originality or legality of AI-generated content. Jurisdictions differ on the copyright status of AI-assisted work — check the rules of your market and platform before commercial use.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use NovelThread for unlawful activity, to mass-produce spam, to infringe others’ rights or to circumvent the usage policies of model providers.
We may suspend or terminate online services for breach of this section.
7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
NovelThread is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, and our liability for indirect losses is capped at the fees you paid us in the preceding 12 months.
Back up your local data regularly; we cannot recover, and are not liable for, local data lost to device failure or accidental deletion.
8. Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. Your local data stays on your device; server-side deletion is described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Changes and contact
When these terms change we will publish the new version here and update the date; material changes will be flagged separately. Continued use after a change takes effect means acceptance.
These terms are governed by and construed under Singapore law, without excluding any mandatory rights under applicable local law you have. Disputes arising from the service should first be addressed through good-faith discussion by email; if unresolved, they are submitted to the courts of Singapore with competent jurisdiction, unless mandatory applicable law requires otherwise.
The operator is NovelThread Team, legally based in Singapore, and the electronic contact address is support@novelthread.app. A complete geographical address for legal service and consumer complaints will be added before paid subscriptions are accepted.
